Suzana Brborović in Lucijan Prelog: There is something caught in here

15.–27. 2. 2021

KiBela/MMC KIBLA, Ulica kneza Koclja 9, Maribor
Razstava There is something caught in here/Tukaj je nekaj ujeto predstavlja dialog med povsem novimi deli Suzane Brborović in deli iz serije Gods en Vogue Lucijana Preloga.

Lucijan Prelog

(1982) živi in dela med Leipzigom in Ljubljano. Član glasbene alternative/industrial/noise skupine It’s everyone else ustvarja objekte, močno zaznamovane s popularno kulturo, ki prežema njegovo življenje.

Suzana Brborović and Lucijan Prelog: There is something caught in here

15–27 February 2021

KiBela/MMC KIBLA, Ulica kneza Koclja 9, Maribor
We kindly invite you to the exhibition of Suzana Brborović and Lucijan Prelog, which will be on view in the KiBela art space from Monday, 15 February.
The exhibition There is something caught in here presents a dialogue between entirely new works by Suzana Brborović and works from the series Gods en Vogue by Lucijan Prelog. The works were created in the same studio, as the painters have been sharing an art studio in Leipzig, Germany, for the last five years. In the art space KiBela, they are co-positioned as manifestations of two artistic languages, formed, developed, and created simultaneously in the shared space. The loose conceptual framework subtly directs the viewer’s gaze of the exhibited works in dialogue, where questions of the relationship between these two visual languages, their connections, similarities, and differences arise. At the same time, this looseness of the conceptual basis puts the viewer in an active and critical attitude towards artwork, both at the individual work level and the rounded whole. It allows free perception, recall, and thinking, which is always conditioned by the individual’s behavior and experience and, all in all, gallery space.

Suzana Brborović

(1988) is an academic painter. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana in 2013, she studied painting in 2014–16 as part of the master’s program (Meisterschüler) at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. In 2019 she received the Rihard Jakopič Award for special projects and achievements in the field of fine arts for younger artists. In her painting practice, she has so far focused mainly on architectural stories. She is interested in the power of the painting medium and the boundaries between digital and painterly gestures.

Lucijan Prelog

(1982) lives and works between Leipzig and Ljubljana. In 2013 he completed his studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana. During his studies, he also received an award for exceptional artistic achievements in 2010/11. As a member of the music alternative / industrial / noise group It’s everyone else, he creates objects strongly marked by the popular culture that permeates his life.
