Druga razstava 23. Mednarodnega feminističnega in kvirovskega festivala Rdeče zore v Galeriji Alkatraz, Under The Tuck (Pod zalimanim), je serija konceptualnih fotoportretov kraljic preobleke, prikazanih skozi odkrito podobo tuckinga. Tehniko kraljice preobleke uporabljajo, da skrijejo vidnost spolovil, da ne »motijo« celostnega izgleda silhuete njihove performativne persone. Vsaka kraljica je izmojstrila svoj pristop tuckinga, fotografska serija Marija Zupanova pa prikaže njihovo identiteto skozi izbrani motiv. Umetnik išče popolnost trenutka v nepopolnosti preobleke in razkriva skrivnosti vsake kraljice posebej. Najraje se posveča času v zaodrju, ko so kraljice v pripravi, posebno pozornost pa usmerja v hipe de-draga, ko »popolnost« preobleke razpade. Ravno v tem razpadu celostne vizualne podobe, ki je namenjena javnosti, Zupanov išče in najde najbolj iskrene momente, ki razodevajo lepote performativnega udejstvovanja in kulture draga ter njegov destabilizacijski vpliv na heteronormativnost in hegemonijo patriarhata.
Slednje pa bo gledalkam_cem pomagala videti in razumeti tudi sokuratorica razstave, Mentalika, ljubljanska kraljica preobleke, aktivistka in glavna organizatorka Dragoslavie ter soustanoviteljica House of Dynasty. V sklopu razstave bo namreč izvedla tudi performativno vodstvo. Pripravite se na posebno izkušnjo, ki vam bo iz prve roke približala umetnost draga in vas soočila z njegovim aktivističnim nabojem!

Vlada z Odlokom o začasnih ukrepih za preprečevanje in obvladovanje okužb z nalezljivo boleznijo COVID-19, ki je začel veljati 21. februarja 2022, sprošča omejitve tudi na področju kulturnih dejavnosti in kolektivnega uresničevanja verske svobode. Prenehale so veljati vse začasne epidemiološke omejitve pri izvajanju kulturnih prireditev in drugih kulturnih storitev ter pri kolektivnem uresničevanju verske svobode. The second exhibition of the 23rd International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns in the Alkatraz Gallery, Under the Tuck is a series of conceptual photo portraits of drag queens, shown through the candid image of tucking. Drag queens use the technique in order to hide the visibility of genitals, not to ‘disturb’ the overall appearance of the silhouette of their performative persona. Each queen has mastered their approach, and Marijo Zupanov’s photo series presents their identity through a chosen motif. The artist seeks for the perfection of the moment in the imperfection of the costume and reveals secrets of each queen individually. He prefers to devote himself to the time in backstage when the queens are getting ready, and pay special attention to the de-drag moments when the ‘perfection’ of the costume falls apart. It is in this disintegration of the holistic visual image intended for the public that Zupanov seeks and finds the sincerest moments that reveal the beauty of perfomative engagement and drag culture, and its destabilizing influence on heteronormativity and patriarchal hegemony.
The co-curator of the exhibition, Mentalika, Ljubljana’s drag queen, activist, main organizer of Dragoslavia and co-founder of the House of Dynasty, will also help viewers to see and understand the latter. As part of the exhibition, she will also conduct a performative tour of the exhibition.
