V četrtek, 8. oktobra 2020, vas med 18. in 21. uro vabimo k ogledu razstave v družbi organizatorjev.
Prostor dopušča sočasen ogled največ sedmim osebam hkrati. Prosimo vas za upoštevanje vseh trenutnih navodil, ki veljajo pri ogledu razstave.
Namen razstave “Ali ima prihodnost ponovitev?” je na videz preprost: s pogledom nazaj upreti pogled naprej. Ali kot je slednje odlično zaobjel filozof Walter Benjamin: »Živeti pomeni puščati sledi. V interierju so te sledi še toliko bolj poudarjene.« Zato pozornemu opazovalcu ne razkrivajo le narave našega dela, temveč tudi naše odnose, naše življenje. Še več, razkrivajo fragmente naše prihodnosti.
Projekti, izbrani za razstavo “Ali ima prihodnost ponovitev?”, so predstavniki obdobja, ki ga je pionirsko začrtalo delo arhitekta Jureta Kobeta s poslovalnico Globtour v Ljubljani. Trdoživ postmoderni arhitekturni likovni izraz se je v izbranem obdobju dokončno umaknil funkciji in jasni likovni pripovedi. Na razstavi so v ospredje postavljeni interierji, katerih skupna značilnost je premišljeno oblikovanje prostora, in ne njegovo opremljanje z bolj ali manj uveljavljenimi produkti zvenečih oblikovalskih imen in trgovskih znamk.
Izbrane interierje pa zaznamuje še ena skupna lastnost, tako imenovani beli šum. Lastnost motnje. Te so v času nastanka pogosto spregledane (kot denimo velja za kultni Kubrickov film 2001: Vesoljska odiseja), ko pogled upremo nazaj, pa se pravzaprav prelevijo v znanilke prihajajočega. Prav te motnje so tudi iniciatorke zastavljenega vprašanja: Ali ima prihodnost ponovitev? In kot kaže razstava, to ni retorično vprašanje.
Razstavni projekt je prva pregledna razstava oblikovanja interierjev v samostojni Sloveniji. To je še toliko pomembnejše, ker so interierji vsakodnevna stalnica našega bivanja, a hkrati predstavljajo področje oblikovanja, ki je najhitreje podvrženo spremembam in kasnejši pozabi. Povedano drugače: gre za področje oblikovanja, ki se vsakodnevno bori z lastno minljivostjo. Kljub temu pa gre za področje, ki na nevsiljiv in pogosto spregledan, a neizpodbitno ključen način vpliva ne samo na kakovost našega bivanja, ampak tudi na raven in nadaljnji razvoj naše bivalne kulture. Prav zato je takšna pregledna razstava tako pomembna in nujna. Poleg tega, da ima dokumentarno in arhivsko vrednost, bo preprečila nadaljnjo izgubo dediščine, hkrati pa vzpostavila temelj za kritični pogled na narejeno. Še pomembneje pa je, da bo oblikovala temelj za nadaljnje vrednotenje oblikovanja interierjev pri nas.
Na podlagi zastavljenega bodo na razstavi “Ali ima prihodnost ponovitev?” v ospredje postavljeni interierji, katerih skupna značilnost je premišljeno oblikovanje prostora, in ne njegovo opremljanje z bolj ali manj uveljavljenimi produkti zvenečih oblikovalskih imen in trgovskih znamk. Projekti, izbrani za razstavo, so nastali med letoma 1990 in 2015, pionirsko pa jih je začrtalo delo arhitekta Jureta Kobeta s poslovalnico Globtour v Ljubljani (1986–88). Na razstavi bo poleg Kobetove poslovalnice Globtour predstavljenih 28 projektov premišljeno oblikovanega interierja 52 avtorjev in avtoric iz 16 arhitekturnih in oblikovalskih studiev. Izbrana dela bodo na razstavi predstavljena s fotografijami, načrti in spremljajočim opisom.
Društvo Pekinpah je leta 2007 ustanovilo pet strokovnjakov in raziskovalcev s področij oblikovanja, sodobnega plesa ter glasbe: Barbara Predan in Petra Černe Oven (teorija oblikovanja ter storitveno in informacijsko oblikovanje), Boris Benko (glasba) ter Žiga Predan in Leja Jurišić (sodobni ples). Društvo je bilo ustanovljeno za namene profesionalizacije, kontinuiranega dela in mednarodnega sodelovanja na vseh treh področjih. Društvo Pekinpah je poleg produkcije predstav, razstav, predavanj in koncertov tudi založnik knjig in nosilcev zvoka ter iniciator, koordinator in nosilna organizacija pri mednarodnem festivalu Spider.

“Can Future Have a Rerun?” is an exhibition with a seemingly straightforward purpose: to look forward by looking back. Or, as the philosopher Walter Benjamin put it so eloquently: “To live means to leave traces. In the interior, these are accentuated.” Indeed, to an attentive observer, traces reveal not only the nature of one’s work, but also their relations, their life. What is more, they reveal the fragments of one’s future.
The projects selected for the exhibition “Can Future Have a Rerun?” are representative of a trail blazed by the Ljubljana office of the Globtour travel agency, a pioneering work by the architect Jure Kobe. This was an era when the resilient post-modern artistic expression in architecture finally gave way to function and clear artistic narrative. The display focuses on interiors with carefully designed space rather than those fitted with more or less prestigious products by high-profile names and brands from the world of design.
Another trait the selected interiors share is that they used to be considered “white noise”. Disturbances. Often underrated at the time when they are made (as was the case, for instance, with Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey), in retrospect such disturbances come to be known as the harbingers of what was to come. It was these disturbances that raised the title question: Can Future Have a Rerun? As the exhibition indicates, this is not a rhetorical question.
The display marks the first survey exhibition of interior designs since Slovenia’s independence. What makes it all the more important is the fact that interiors are an integral part of one’s daily life while being an area of design that is most easily subject to change and subsequently consigned to oblivion. In other words: this is an area of design that struggles against its own transience. That said, it is also an area that impacts, in a discreet, often underrated and yet irrefutably vital way, not only the quality of one’s life, but also the level and future development of the culture of living. This is what makes such a survey exhibition a significant, if not an essential event. Having documentary and archival value, it will prevent any further loss of heritage while paving the way for a critical revision of what has been done. More importantly still, the exhibition lays the foundation for future assessment of interior design in Slovenia.
The display focuses on interiors with carefully designed space rather than those fitted with more or less prestigious products by high-profile names and brands from the world of design. Implemented between 1990 and 2015, the projects selected for the exhibition “Can Future Have a Rerun?” followed the trail blazed by the Ljubljana office of the Globtour travel agency (1986–88), a pioneering work by the architect Jure Kobe. In addition to this office, the exhibition showcases 28 projects with interiors carefully crafted by 52 architects and designers from 16 studios. The selected works are presented through photographs, architectural plans, and accompanying descriptions.
Pekinpah is an association established in 2007 by five design, contemporary dance, and music experts and researchers: Barbara Predan and Petra Černe Oven (design theory; service and information design), Boris Benko (music), Žiga Predan and Leja Jurišić (contemporary dance). The purpose of the association is to encourage the professionalisation and continuity of, and international co-operation in the three fields. In addition to staging performances, exhibitions, lectures and concerts, Pekinpah works as a book and music publisher, and the initiator, coordinator and the main organisation behind the Spider international festival.
